UF hires executive director, names operations director for Reitz

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida’s Division of Student Affairs has hired Eddie Daniels Jr. as executive director for the Reitz Student Union and Student Activities. Daniels will begin the position Aug. 31.
In addition, Michael Mironack has been promoted to director of operations for the Reitz Student Union. Mironack has served as the Reitz Student Union’s interim director since February, when former director David Kratzer was promoted to associate vice president for student affairs. Mironack has served as associate director of the Reitz Union since 2002.
Daniels has been a union director for nearly 20 years. He served as director at the Russell House University Union at the University of South Carolina for nine years, at the University of Virginia for five years, and most recently at the University of Connecticut since 2000. He has overseen nearly $80 million in renovation and construction during his time as a union director.
Daniels brings facility management experience, student advocacy and programming creativity that will further the Reitz Student Union’s stature as a model union and a national leader, said Patricia Telles-Irvin, UF vice president for student affairs.
Daniels holds a master of public affairs degree with a concentration in personnel management from Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, and a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Indiana University at Bloomington. He has served in a variety of leadership positions in the Association of College Unions International and is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
Mironack served as regional conference committee chair in 2002 for the Association of College Unions International. He received the William E. Rion Outstanding Staff Member Award in 1997 from ACUI.
Mironack holds a doctorate in higher education administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UF and a master of business administration degree from the University of North Florida.
