Gator Growl Talent Night seeks performers to audition

GAINESVILLE – Auditions for Gator Growl Talent Night will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 the Reitz Student Union Rooms 361-362. Talent Night will be held Sept. 20 at The Venue (formerly Graffiti Beach) in downtown Gainesville.
Talented singers, dancers, comedians, step teams and cheer squads are sought, but anyone interested in performing may audition. The winner of the solo-vocalist competition will go on to sing the national anthem at Gator Growl 2005. Other acts that steal the spotlight will be chosen to perform at Gator Growl.
“We are excited to begin auditioning potential performers for Talent Night and Gator Growl 2005,” said Ashley Metzel, director of Gator Growl Talent Night. “I encourage anyone with a unique talent, whether it be juggling or singing, to come out and audition for a spot on The Venue’s stage.”
A final audition is scheduled for Sept. 12. Details will be announced at a later date.
Student tickets to Gator Growl are on sale at the University Box Office for $5. General public admission tickets are $18 each and can be purchased at any Ticketmaster location, Ticketmaster.com, via phone at (904) 353-3309 and at the University Box Office. Student-priced tickets cannot be purchased through Ticketmaster.
Gator Growl is the largest student-run pep rally in the world and has been a University of Florida and Gainesville tradition for 80 years. Past Gator Growl comedians include Bill Cosby, Billy Crystal, Bob Hope, Dennis Miller, Ray Romano and Robin Williams.
