UF's Blue Key presents Homecoming Pageant Sept. 19
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Blue Key at the University of Florida will present the 2005 Homecoming Pageant Sept. 19. The 52nd annual pageant exhibits UF’s most outstanding female leaders on campus.
The pageant will be held at 7 p.m. at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $6. The 2005 pageant will feature 31 women competing for three positions on Homecoming court. The 2005 Homecoming queen will be crowned at Gator Growl on Oct. 7.
The judging for the competition is based on campus and community involvement, a formal interview, service to the university, poise and presentation. The masters of the ceremony are the current Miss Florida Mari Wilensky and Jess Johnson, executive assistant to the vice president of student affairs.
Scarborough Company Insurance Inc. is the title sponsor of the Homecoming Pageant, and Village Jeweler is an additional sponsor.
Tickets for the 2005 Homecoming Pageant can be purchased from any contestant, at the University Box Office, any Ticketmaster outlet or on its Web site, http://www.ticketmaster.com and the day of the pageant at the Center for the Performing Arts.
“The Homecoming Pageant is an evening to show appreciation for the astounding contributions given to the University of Florida by some of its most amazing female leaders,” Homecoming Pageant director Dana Garrison said.
Florida Blue Key was founded in 1923 at the University of Florida; it is the oldest and most prestigious leadership honorary within the state of Florida. Every year Florida Blue Key sponsors the production of the nation’s largest homecoming celebration and student run pep rally, Gator Growl.
