Gator Nation Network launched to connect alumni, friends

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gators across the globe are now a mouse click away from each other.

The University of Florida Alumni Association has launched its online Gator Nation Network to help alumni and friends of the university stay in touch. The Web site was created exclusively for UF to establish an online community for Gators to communicate, socialize and network, said Katie Seay, director of membership and marketing for the alumni association.

“The advantages are endless. This allows Gators all over the world to connect with old friends, look for jobs, list career openings, find roommates, post blogs and communicate in a secure, private setting for Gators only,” Seay said. UF is one of just a handful of schools in the nation — and the first in the Southeastern Conference — offering such a service.

The Gator Nation Network was unveiled last month to Gator Club members, and already 1,800 people have registered, Seay said. The alumni association is now opening the free service to all alumni and friends of the university. Plans are under way to expand the Gator Nation Network to include students hoping to connect with Gators around the world offering internships and jobs.

“We believe this online community will be a highly effective social and professional networking tool for Gators throughout the world,” Seay said.
