Human Resources to recognize GED graduates

December 6, 2005

The Office of Human Resource Services at the University of Florida will recognize graduates of the General Education Diploma (GED) program at a breakfast and reception on Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Arredondo Room of the Reitz Student Union. The 2005 graduating participants include Derrick Bloodworth, Darrel Douglas, Lasheaka Gatson, Jack Hoover, Tameka Howard and Roseanne Luxton.

“Earning a GED is a great accomplishment and significant step in these employees’ personal and professional development,” said Jennifer Blades, GED program coordinator for Human Resources.

The GED program offers UF employees the opportunity to learn basic skills in reading, writing, math, and other subject areas during a class that meets for four hours each week. The program’s success is due to collaboration among employees, supervisors, the instructor, and Human Resource Services. Over the past decade, the university has helped more than 50 employees receive their GED.
