University to observe 9/11 anniversary
September 9, 2006
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University on Monday will observe a moment of silence to mark the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The observation will begin at 8:46 a.m., the time at which the first plane struck the first tower at the World Trade Center. The moment of silence will be accompanied by music to be performed on the university’s carillon, and University Police Department officers will lower the flag near Tigert Hall to half staff.
