The Peking Acrobats tumble way to Phillips Center
February 2, 2007
GAINESVILLE, Fla. –– The Peking Acrobats will appear at the University of Florida’s Phillips Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17.
The Peking Acrobats have performed worldwide to standing ovations and packed houses. Daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs, treacherous wire walking and powerful precision tumbling, somersaulting and gymnastics make The Peking Acrobats a family favorite. The company’s stop at the Phillips Center is a part a 50-city tour across North America.
The Peking Acrobats have been featured on TV shows and specials, including “The Wayne Brady Show,” NBC’s “Ring in the New Year Holiday Special” and Nickelodeon’s “Unfabulous.” The company set the world record on Fox’s “Guinness Book Primetime TV” for the Human Chair Stack, where six people balanced atop six chairs 21 feet in the air without safety lines.
Company members were featured in Steven Soderbergh’s hit films “Ocean’s 11″ and “Ocean’s 12,” starring Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The Peking Acrobats’ Qin Shaobo will appear in “Ocean’s 13,” which features many of the original cast members as well as Ellen Barkin and Robert DeNiro.
