UF Water Institute director to talk about water resources
February 5, 2007
Who: Wendy Graham, director of the University of Florida’s Water Institute, will speak at the next Community Campus Council breakfast. The mission of the Water Institute is to establish the long-term, multidisciplinary scientific research and education programs needed to develop technologies and sustainable solutions for natural and manmade threats to Florida’s water resources.
What: Florida’s economic development during the past several decades has been fueled by its climate and abundant water resources. Increased population, rapid urban development, large agricultural water demands, and the need to protect natural resources, however, have led to water resource problems in many parts of the state. Graham will discuss where that could lead the state of Florida.
When: 7:30 a.m., Feb. 14
Where: Arredondo Room, 4th Floor, Reitz Student Union. The breakfast buffet is $5. Make checks payable to the University of Florida.
Contact: Florida Bridgewater-Alford, 352-846-3903 or bridgefl@ufl.edu for accommodations.
