GAINESVILLE, Fla. –– ACCENT Speakers Bureau along with RECURSO, UF Human Rights Awareness, and the Civic Media Center announces Mia Farrow, famed actress and world humanitarian, will speak at the University of Florida on April 11. The show will be held at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and will begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7:15 p.m. The show is free and open to the public, and seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Farrow began her acting career early in film classics such as “Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Great Gatsby” and “Radio Days.” She continued on to Broadway, where she starred in “The Importance of Being Earnest” and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.”
Even though Farrow is most notably known for her acting abilities, she now has devoted her life to helping the less fortunate. For the past six years, she has been a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, and through this role, she has traveled to Nigeria, Angola, and most recently, Darfur, Sudan.
Farrow will use her role in Darfur as a guide for her speech titled, “With Knowledge Comes Responsibility: Saving Darfur.” Farrow will highlight her goals as ambassador as well as the importance of helping this cause.
