UF oral surgeon recognized as Dental Educator of the Year

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dr. Matthew Dennis, a clinical associate professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery and diagnostic sciences, has been awarded the Florida Dental Association’s Dental Educator Award.

Dennis was nominated by student members of the Gainesville chapter of the American Student Dental Association based on his outstanding contributions to the quality of dental education. He received the award in June during the Florida National Dental Congress, held in Orlando, Fla. This was the second time Dennis was honored with the award, which he first received in 2004.

Dennis serves as the college’s undergraduate oral surgery curriculum coordinator and provides clinical instruction in the Student Oral Surgery Clinic. He earned his dental degree from UCLA in 1979 and completed his oral surgery training at the UF program in Jacksonville 1983. He is board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
