UF Dance students showcase their talents, Oct. 25-28
October 23, 2007
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The College of Fine Arts School of Theatre and Dance presents the BFA Dance showcase “Fall for Dance,” the premiere outlet for Bachelor of Fine Arts dance majors to showcase their choreographic works at the University of Florida.
Directed by Neta Pulvermacher, the unique and intimate dance showcase features works by senior dance majors Sarah Caldabaugh, Rachel Bergner, Sasha Jeminez, Eryn Johnson, Aisha Alami, Jennifer Richard, Mario Cornejo, Everlea Bryant and Beverly Herget in three separate programs from Oct. 25-Oct. 28 at the Nadine McGuire Theatre and Dance Pavilion’s G-06 Dance Studio.
“Our homegrown artists and creators have produced an exciting season of new dance work as part of their degree program,” Pulvermacher said.
Each of the three programs presents students’ creative endeavors in an informal and intimate setting. Students work with small companies of dancers to create their own works over the semester. This process is part of the junior and senior project required for dance majors, and it is also an opportunity for each of the choreographers to experiment with their ideas and their individual creative voice. Also included in the three days of performances (programs A, B and C) are UF’s faculty directed ensembles: the Florida MOD Project performing works by Incidents Physical Theatre NYC and Shapiro & Smith Dance, and the Neta Dance Ensemble. The programs will also include a performance from a guest artist from Booker High School, Sarasota.
