Florida Museum seeking summer junior volunteers
March 26, 2008
GAINESVILLE, Fla.—The Florida Museum of Natural History is accepting applications for summer 2008 junior volunteers from students ages 12 to 17. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on April 11.
Junior volunteers are needed to work with younger students in the museum’s summer camps and Discovery Room, interact with visitors through Discovery Cart demonstrations and serve as interpreters for the “Inside Africa” exhibit. An application and more information are available online at http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/volunteers/vol_juniors.htm or at the museum reception desk during business hours.
Junior volunteers must serve at least 30 hours during the course of the summer (40 hours if serving as a camp assistant) and may work a maximum of four hours per day. A pre-service interview, required for all new applicants, will take place April 26, and a training session from 1 to 5 p.m. on June 1 is required for new and returning volunteers.
