O’Connell Center closed Thursday morning for police training

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The O’Connell Center will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday to allow training by the University of Florida and Gainesville police departments.

The police will conduct “active shooter” scenario training inside the facility. It will involve on-duty personnel to simulate a real-time response.

Signs will be posted in the area indicating the facility will be closed during those hours.
