Machen, Meyer to speak at 38th annual UF Joint Civic Club Luncheon

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida President Bernie Machen and Head Football Coach Urban Meyer will kick off the 2008-2009 academic year and football season at the 38th annual UF Joint Civic Club Luncheon on Aug. 20 at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center.

Machen will provide updates on university matters, while Meyer will offer a preview of the upcoming football season.

Door prizes and entertainment are planned. The UF/JCC luncheon is one of the premiere annual events in the Gainesville/Alachua County community that celebrates the relationship UF has cultivated among its community and civic leaders, members and friends.

Seating is limited and individual ticket reservations are required. Reservations will be accepted until Aug. 18 at jcc-luncheon@ufl.edu. The luncheon’s cost of $18 is payable at the door.

The event will be held in the Hilton’s Century Ballroom, 1714 S.W. 34th St. At 11:30 a.m., doors will open and food service will begin. The program will start at noon.
