The Harn and Florida Museum’s activities combine for fun event on Aug. 7
August 6, 2008
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — On Aug. 7, Museum Nights will feature “So You Think You Know Trivia?” from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harn Museum of Art, and will keep the Butterfly Rainforest open at the Florida Museum of Natural History from 5 to 8 p.m.
For trivia at the Harn, participants will compete in groups to earn the most points for correctly answering questions from five categories. Trivia categories include: pop culture, movies, reality TV, sports and current Harn exhibitions. Top-scoring groups will receive prizes donated by local businesses. Pizza and other “brain food” will be available for contestants and visitors. Visitors may also enjoy the Harn exhibitions on display.
The Florida Museum of Natural History’s “Night in Paradise” will include an opportunity to visit The Butterfly Rainforest until 8 p.m., with the last admission at 7:30 p.m. Visitors can experience lush tropical plants and gaze upon hundreds of beautiful butterflies, including more than 20 newly introduced African species. Butterfly Rainforest staff members will be on site to answer questions. Other Florida Museum exhibits will be open throughout the evening, as well.
Admission is free to both the Harn Museum of Art and The Florida Museum of Natural History. An admission fee does apply to the Butterfly Rainforest, but the fee is waived for UF students with a valid Gator 1 card.
The goal of Museum Nights is to make available the rich artistic and scientific offerings of the Harn Museum of Art and Florida Museum of Natural History to the student body of the University of Florida and the broader Gainesville community. Sponsored by UF Student Government, Museum Nights expands the museums’ hours on Thursday evenings and provides programming and entertainment planned by students, for students.
