Florida Blue Key presents the eighth annual Legal Professions Day
March 9, 2009
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Blue Key will host the eighth annual Legal Professions Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 28 at the Levin College of Law. At the event, students will explore the various facets of the legal system while absorbing invaluable advice from influential legal professionals about law school and future career possibilities.
Florida Blue Key’s Legal Professions Day is a seminar targeted toward University of Florida students interested in pursuing a career in the legal field. Students will have the opportunity to learn helpful tips to prepare them for a potential job in the legal world. Obtaining legal internships, for example, are crucial for students who desire a legal career, and Legal Professions Day will review the best ways to discover internship opportunities. The seminar also will discuss the many pre-legal organizations on the University of Florida campus, as well as other careers that young men and women may pursue with a legal degree.
Legal Professions Day offers students the unique opportunity to ask questions and interact with a variety of legal professionals, including attorneys, law professors, deans, law students and admissions counselors. The speakers include a number of prominent legal professionals, including Richard Orfinger, a judge in the Fifth District Court of Appeals, and Jeff Sloman, a U. S. attorney.
“In a field that has so many different avenues for success, I really think attending Legal Professions Day could be helpful for any undergraduate considering a career in law. It will be a great opportunity to hear an amazingly diverse group of professionals with one common thread – they all went to law school,” said Rachel Bell, Florida Blue Key Legal Professions Day Director.
