April 6, 2009
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), will host the Stomp the Swamp for Autism event at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
University of Florida students and the general public may run or walk the stadium bleachers and stairs in order to raise money for CARD. Those interested in participating may register with a $15.99 fee, payable in advance on the event’s Web site, http://www.stomptheswamp.com/home_OL7J.html, or on location at the event.
Everyone is welcome to sponsor an individual “stomper” or a team of stompers, buy a CARD T-shirt, donate to CARD on the event’s Web site and help promote the event. Companies may sponsor the event by underwriting the expenses of T-shirts, advertising, refreshments and other event-related costs.
CARD encourages the development of interactive and communicative skills, as well as provides information, support and help for children, individuals and their families as they face life’s daily challenges. Local families assisted by CARD will be at the event to share their stories.
