UF professor named editor-in-chief for Journal of Interior Design
December 2, 2009
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Margaret Portillo, University of Florida professor and chairwoman of the department of interior design, was recently named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Interior Design, the only scholarly journal exclusively dedicated to issues related to the design of the interior environment.
Published on behalf of the Interior Design Educators Council, JID includes articles relating to interior design theory, research, education and practice. Submissions typically are received from design researchers, anthropologists, historians, psychologists and sociologists.
“It’s an exciting time in the life of the Journal of Interior Design,” Portillo said. “I am pleased to be contributing at a juncture when the journal is increasing its focus on international design issues. At the same time, this year marks the move from a biannual to a quarterly publication schedule, thus significantly extending the journal’s reach and potential impact in the field.”
To advance the mission of the journal, Portillo will be working closely with newly appointed associate editor, Tiiu Poldma, from the Université de Montréal.
