June 2 robbery report was fabricated

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — On June 2, 2010 a strong-arm robbery was reported to the University of Florida Police Department. The robbery initially was reported to have occurred at the Shands south parking garage at 6:45 a.m.

After UPD completed a follow-up investigation of this incident, it was determined that the victim’s statements were inconsistent with the evidence obtained during the initial investigation and interviews. When detectives interviewed the victim again, he confessed to fabricating the robbery story.

A sworn complaint for filing a false police report will be completed against Jason Lowkewicz, a 31-year-old Gainesville resident.
