Douglas Wynkoop named CIO of University of Florida Investment Corp.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida announced today that Douglas Wynkoop has been named chief investment officer of the University of Florida Investment Corporation, UF’s investment arm known as UFICO. He will begin on July 19.
Wynkoop has been CIO of the Houston Municipal Employees Pension System since 2006, where he managed the investment activities of a $1.9 billion portfolio. Wynkoop joined that company in 1995 as a financial analyst.
He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston and a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering from Ohio State University.
“UF President Bernie Machen and I are very confident in Doug’s ability to soundly manage the investment assets of the University of Florida and its direct support organizations,” said Earl Powell, chairman of the UFICO board of directors. “We expect that under Doug’s leadership UFICO will continue the nationally recognized investment success we have seen since its inception.”
UFICO was created in 2004 by the UF board of trustees and currently manages $1.6 billion in assets for the University of Florida Foundation, the University of Florida Research Foundation, the University Athletic Association, Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinics, and the University of Florida.
