Phillips brings music of Woodstock in live concert Sept. 17

August 27, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The music of Woodstock, the legendary festival of 1969, will be recreated Sept. 17 at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts with Craig Martin’s Classic Albums Live: “The Songs of Woodstock.”

Hear recreations of hits by Joe Cocker, Santana, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and more in this live concert event, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The goal of Classic Albums Live is to capture “absolutely every detail” of some of rock music’s greatest albums. The musicians, pulled from among Canada’s best, do not attempt to dress up like the original band members or mimic them in any way. Instead, they perform the album as it was recorded in such detail that, if you close your eyes and listen to the music, you’ll swear you’re listening to the album.

Based in Toronto, Classic Albums Live has performed throughout Canada and the United States. Along with Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” and The Eagles’ “Hotel California”, they have also produced “live album” experiences of Led Zeppelin’s “Led Zeppelin” and “Led Zeppelin II”; Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run”; Supertramp’s “Crime of the Century” and “Breakfast in America”; the Rolling Stones’ “Sticky Fingers” and “Exile on Main Street”; The Beatles’ “Revolver” and “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”; and Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” and “The Wall.”

Ticket prices are $25-$40.

There will be a pre-performance discussion at 6:45 p.m. in Fackler Foyer East.
