Employees can begin to choose 2011 benefits, starting today
September 27, 2010
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Eligible University of Florida employees can choose their benefits for 2011, starting at 8 a.m. today.
The open enrollment period for all UF Academic Personnel, TEAMS and USPS employees continues through 6 p.m. Oct. 22. Each year, faculty and staff have an opportunity to make changes to their benefits, which are provided through a combination of state- and university-sponsored programs. A list of these benefits, along with other helpful information, is posted on the open enrollment section of UF Human Resource Services’ website.
The changes employees elect to make during open enrollment will take effect Jan. 1, which is the start of the new benefits plan year.
To help employees to understand their options, a benefits fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Touchdown Terrace.
Some changes in benefits for 2011 include:
• Reduction in basic state life coverage to $25,000 for all employees;
• Rate increase on employer and part-time employee health premiums;
• Adjusted co-pays for some health services and prescriptions;
• New medical reimbursement debit card;
• Prescription coverage for smoking cessation medications;
• Mammograms covered under the PPO as preventive care.
