Recent legislative session topic for next APA meeting Thursday

June 17, 2011

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Jane Adams, University of Florida vice president for university relations, will talk about the recent state legislative session at the next meeting of the University of Florida Academic and Professional Assembly.

The meeting starts at 3:30 p.m. June 23 in the Levin College of Law’s Chesterfield Smith Ceremonial Classroom 180. Parking is plentiful at the law school this time of year, and parking restrictions on the lots surrounding the school are lifted at 3:30 p.m. Classroom 180 is on the ground floor immediately to the east of the law school courtyard.

There is more than enough seating in the auditorium for APA members to bring others interested in this topic, and students are welcome. The event also will be webcast live and archived for later viewing as a link off the APA website, http://apassembly.ufl.edu/.

Adams is responsible for government relations, public relations, marketing and external relations at the national, state and local levels. Her presentation will take the form of a brief overview of related issues, with emphasis on the results of this legislative season, followed by an informal question-and-answer period with attendees. If you cannot attend, send your questions and concerns to an APA board member in advance of the presentation. Topics are expected to range from the impact on your retirement to how UF is working to minimize the impact on faculty and staff.

If you have questions, contact APA President Debra Amirin, Amirin@law.ufl.edu or 352-273-0651.
