GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Emmitt Smith will autograph his new book, “Game On: Find Your Purpose – Pursue Your Dream,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 17 at the University of Florida Bookstore. The bookstore is located in the Reitz Student Union on Museum Road. Copies of the book will be available for sale.
Smith is the NFL’s all-time rushing leader and is known for being one of the greatest running backs of all time. A Florida native, Smith played for UF for three seasons between 1987 and 1989. He was named first team All-SEC all three years and was unanimously voted first-team All-American in 1989. Smith entered the NFL draft after his junior year, having broken 58 school records. He returned to UF in 1996 to earn his bachelor’s degree in public recreation.
Smith went on to play in the NFL for 14 seasons, spending most of his career as a member of the Dallas Cowboys (1990-2002). During his legendary career, Smith won three Super Bowl championships, was named to eight Pro Bowl teams and is the only player in NFL history to win the Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP award and NFL MVP award in the same season. After he retired in 2005, Smith went on to win the fall 2006 season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
In “Game On: Find Your Purpose – Pursue Your Dream,” Smith outlines the principles that helped him become a winner on and off the football field. Throughout this book, Smith gives readers the tools to pursue their dreams with all their mind, heart and soul. He reveals that it is not only vision and talent that propel us toward our dreams but also a combination of persistence, determination, humility, courage and faith.
