GAINESVILLE, Fla. — As a member of Daryl Hall & John Oates, the most successful duo in rock history, John Oates achieved stardom at the highest level. Embarking on a solo tour with his band, Oates comes to the Phillips Center for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
Daryl Hall and John Oates recorded 29 Top 40 songs and sold more than 80 million units, making them the highest selling duo of all time, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The duo had five songs hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, was inducted into the American Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 and was presented the BMI Icon Award in 2008.

Oates was recently invited to become a member of the board of directors for the R&B Foundation. He created an annual event entitled: 7908’ The Aspen Songwriters Festival, featuring a lineup of some of the country’s best writers and performers.
