UF students help Gainesville residents to find jobs

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Members of the University of Florida’s Students in Free Enterprise are helping Gainesville residents find jobs and get hired.
They will be hosting Get a Job Gainesville, a free, one-day career re-entry fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Center for Innovation and Economic Development, 530 W. University Ave.
UF SIFE has been hosting and developing this event for seven semesters. In spring, they helped 30 Alachua County residents gain the knowledge and skills to begin their careers, said Mallory Hodas, SIFE project manager.
This year, they are bringing in more companies to give tips and tricks to enter the industries and hope to attract even more unemployed Gainesville-area residents to the event.
They will offer resume critiques, mock interviews and booths to help individuals become better job applicants.
“This career fair is unique,” Hodas said. “Not only does it bring job opportunities, but it also provides the tools these participants need to better their job candidacy for the rest of their lives.”
