January 10, 2012
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida has received a grant from the Tinker Foundation to initiate a Tinker Field Research Grants Program at the center.
The $15,000 grant will be matched 100 percent by UF’s Office of Research. Beginning this year, the grant will support pre-dissertation field research in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries of the Western Hemisphere. The center will be eligible to renew the grant for two one-year extensions.
The grant will enable the center to fund 15 or more graduate students each summer to do research in Latin America.
