Country singer Josh Turner to perform at Gator Growl

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gator Growl 2012 will feature country superstar Josh Turner as the musical talent for this year’s event, to be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Turner has charted 10 singles, four of which have gone to the top of the country singles chart. His single “Why Don’t We Just Dance” also reached No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. He is known for his singles “Me and God,” “Your Man,” and “Would You Go With Me.”
Turner’s album “Your Man” was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and his debut album, “Long Black Train,” was also certified platinum.
Turner is promoting his latest album, “Punching Bag.” The album has reached the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, and has cracked the Top 5 of the Billboard 200.
The single “Time Is Love” from the album has also reached the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
On October 2007, Turner was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, the world’s longest running live radio program. At the age of 29, he is the second youngest member inducted and is among the company of Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Chris Young.
Turner was born and raised in Hannah, S.C., and attended Belmont University in
Nashville, Tenn.
In addition to Josh Turner, this year’s event will also feature a comedian act, fireworks, and the Para-Commandos skydiving team as well as the Dazzlers, UF cheerleaders and the Gator football team’s senior members.

The theme of Gator Growl 2012 is “United We Growl” and the show will be honoring both the Florida Gators and the United States military on the eve of Veterans Day Weekend.
Gator Growl marks the culmination of UF’s homecoming festivities and brings together students, alumni, staff and faculty.
