Office of Sustainability launches spring campaign 'Under One Umbrella'
February 12, 2013
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Office of Sustainability’s Under One Umbrella campaign starts Thursday with a “Farm to Table, Bike to Breakfast” event at Gator Corner.
The spring campaign highlights sustainability-related activities on campus and in the community to encourage students, faculty and Gainesville residents to learn about various components of sustainability.
Now through the first week of April, the Gator Nation and local community are invited to participate in a variety of events and programs related to five key elements that fall under the overarching umbrella of sustainability: food, water, service, waste and energy.
Other events will include and a screening of “The Clean Bin Project” in partnership with the Florida Museum of Natural History, and the Campus Earth Day celebration featuring UF President Bernie Machen’s State of Sustainability address and the presentation of the Champions for Change Awards. The campaign ends April 24 with a campuswide collection day for household hazardous waste and other items.
