EPA to announce winners of Campus Rainworks Challenge

WHAT: Campus Rainworks Challenge, a national competition for undergraduate and graduate students held by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will end with the announcement of the winners for the inaugural event. The University of Florida’s team will present its submission, which included researching and designing a master plan for creative stormwater and circulation improvements to the Reitz Student Union North Lawn.

The EPA created the competition to inspire the next generation of landscape architects, planners and engineers to develop innovative green infrastructure systems that mitigate the effects of urban stormwater while supporting vibrant and sustainable communities.

• Bernie Machen, UF president
• Nancy Stoner, EPA acting assistant administrator for water
• Christopher Silver, dean, College of Design, Construction and Planning
• Glenn Acomb, senior lecturer in landscape architecture and the team’s faculty adviser
• Emily Sturm, senior in landscape architecture and the team’s project manager
