Matt & Kim headline free concert July 12 at Flavet Field
July 2, 2013
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida’s Student Government Productions presents the second annual Swampfest, a concert featuring Matt & Kim, Cults and Ahmir, July 12 at Flavet Field.
The free concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and is sponsored by UF Student Government, VISA and RUB Entertainment.
Indie pop duo Matt & Kim add Swampfest to an impressive list of summer music festivals including Bonnaroo, Firefly Music Festival, Summerfest and Lollapalooza. Best known for the popular song “Daylight,” Matt & Kim are famous for bringing unmatched energy to the stage at every live performance.
Recognized by Pitchfork as “Best New Music,” Cults’ modern alternative style will overtake Flavet Field. The New York-based duo’s hit single “Go Outside” and subsequent self-titled album attracted positive attention from numerous music critics, and now they’re rounding out their summer of festivals with a performance at Swampfest.
Ahmir, YouTube’s most popular R&B group, captivates audiences with remixes and covers that rival the original versions. The up-and-coming group won Billboard’s “We Hear the Future” industry competition, and provides unique entertainment by changing their sets to match the crowd’s vibe.
SGP is excited to bring these artists to Swampfest, creating a festival atmosphere that is unmatched in Gainesville and allowing students and the community to enjoy this summer’s featured sounds.
“Matt & Kim put on a rowdy show and bring energy to the crow like I’ve never seen in any other performance,” said SGP Chairman Daniel Levin, who has seen the duo perform at other festivals across the country. “I like the variety Cults and Ahmir add to make a complete festival atmosphere on campus.”
