Hundreds of employers to participate in Career Showcase

September 26, 2013

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — More than 330 employers will be looking to recruit University of Florida students and alumni during the 2013 Fall Career Showcase Tuesday and Wednesday in the O’Connell Center.

The showcase, hosted by UF’s Career Resource Center, offers students the chance to meet potential employers face-to-face and find full-time job and internship opportunities. The showcase runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days. The showcase’s main sponsor is Nielsen, a global information and measurement company.

The showcase, held twice a year, is the largest career fair in the Southeast. On Tuesday, employers will be seeking students from non-technical fields like political science, communications, humanities and accounting. Employers on Wednesday will meet with students from technical backgrounds, such as engineering, physics and mathematics.

Last fall, Career Showcase saw record-breaking numbers with an attendance of 7,371 students and alumni. Springtime participation spiked above 8,500.

Students attending the event must bring their Gator 1 cards and are strongly encouraged to bring several copies of their resume. The showcase is open to only UF students and alumni.

A list of participating companies is posted in Gator CareerLink, which can be accessed through the CRC’s website www.crc.ufl.edu. Sixty-eight of the employers are new, including Dropbox, Delta Air Lines and Rocket Fuel. Notable companies on the list include Apple, General Motors, Intel Corp., Procter & Gamble and Sears Holdings.
