National security panel includes former spy, retired general, political leaders

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — This year’s Allen L. Poucher Legal Education Series at the University of Florida will delve into the challenging world of national security with a panel including retired four-star general, a former Florida governor, a former CIA spy and a current Florida senator.

“National Security in a Changing World: From the perspective of an academic, a general, a spy and Florida statesmen,” will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. It is sponsored by the Florida Law Review, and is free and open to the public.

The confirmed panelists are drone expert Kenneth Anderson, a law professor at American University; U.S. Army General (Ret.) James T. Hill; former CIA operative James Olson, a lecturer at the Bush School of Government and Public Service; former Florida Gov. and Sen. Bob Graham; and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.

The Allen L. Poucher Legal Education Series was established by Betty K. Poucher in honor of her late husband, Allen L. Poucher Sr. A humanitarian who lived a life dedicated to service, Allen Poucher graduated from UF Law in 1942 and practiced law for more than 60 years. The Poucher Legal Education Series seeks to provide a venue for prominent legal, political and business leaders to discuss important issues facing our nation and world today.
