GATOR INSTAGRAM — The #UFSocial team at the University of Florida has launched an Instagram campaign to show that The Gator Nation extends well beyond Gainesville’s city limits.
LECTURE — “Fostering a Culture of Responsible Creativity” is the first in a series of lectures aimed at showcasing the expertise of existing faculty as UF launches into a hiring spree for as many as 130 researchers to help lift UF to national preeminence.

MEDICAID REFORM — Health care plans in the Florida Medicaid Reform Pilot project have done a better job of controlling costs compared with Florida’s traditional Medicaid program, according to a new University of Florida study.

THE NOSE KNOWS – UF researchers have shown that certain nasal neurons actually help animals determine the location of a scent. Their findings may pave the way for electronic “noses” that can detect land mines and other things.
WOODRAT — Captive breeding of the endangered Key Largo woodrat may not be the best solution to preserve the scarce rodent, an animal driven to near extinction by development, a new UF study shows. Fewer than 500 of them are left; they’re an important link in the ecosystem chain.
