Sustainability Fair includes vendors, food and free bike helmets

GAINESVILLE, Fla.  — The University of Florida Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research Green Team will hold its Sustainability Fair Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 12.

The event will be on the grounds of the Cancer & Genetics Research Center located on the corner of Gale Lemerand Drive and Southwest Archer Road.

Participating vendors, including Florida Organic Growers, Keep Alachua County Beautiful, RTS and more, will provide resources for faculty, staff and students to become more sustainable on campus and at home. Local, sustainable food and free bike helmets from the Pedestrian/Bicycling Safety Resource Center will also be available.

Honored as the University of Florida’s Green Team of the Year, the ICBR Green Team has partnered with Sustainable UF to bring together on and off-campus organizations involved in green efforts for the event. To support the university’s goals outlined in the Vision for a Sustainable UF, Green Teams across campus develop sustainability initiatives within their respective departments.

Sustainable UF’s 2014 spring campaign encourages UF and Gainesville community members to take the pledge toward a more sustainable life in one of the four largest areas of resource consumption: transportation, waste, energy and food.

The ICBR Green Team encourages all to participate in sustainable transportation by busing, biking or walking from campus to the fair.
