GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The following events are scheduled in the near future at or near the University of Florida:

Students to train with Brazilian musicians

UF’s Brazilian Music Institute will allow students to train with Brazil’s best musicians from May 12-14 in the Music Building. The event will conclude with a concert featuring guest artists and participants at 7:30 p.m. May 17 at the Squitieri Studio Theatre at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased by calling 352-392-2787 or visiting www.ticketmaster.com.

Bob Graham Center hosts statewide, student-run summit

The Bob Graham Center for Public Service will host its first Robert A. Bryan Public Policy Summit from May 16-18 in Pugh Hall. Students will focus on solving problems regarding higher education policy in the state. The event aims to encourage leadership and civic involvement. Speakers will include Belle Wheelan, president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and UF Provost Joe Glover. Update of master plan starting with workshop

A steering committee updating UF’s master plan to the year 2025 will hold a workshop from 9 a.m. to noon May 19 in the Warrington Room at Emerson Alumni Hall, 1938 W. University Ave. The plan applies to growth and development on the main campus, 13 smaller properties in Alachua County and the Davie/Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center.
