Expert available to talk about EPA's climate change proposal

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Ted Kury, director of energy studies at the University of Florida’s Public Utility Research Center, is available to talk about the climate-change initiative the Environmental Protection Agency released today.

Among the proposed measures of interest are the powers states will be awarded to manage and administer emission standards, most notably a “cap-and-trade” system where power companies, as The Wall Street Journal reports, “can trade allowances or credits for emissions as a way of staying under different benchmarks the EPA sets for each state.” This new rule would have a major impact on power plants across the country.
