June 4, 2014
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Outstanding college and pre-college pianists from around the country will participate in the University of Florida International Piano Festival June 14-21 in the Music Building, Room 101.
The pianists will have lessons and master classes with distinguished teachers from across North America and the United Kingdom. The public is invited to attend free daily master classes and recitals.
Originating in 2007 as the Chinese-American International Piano Institute, the event has hosted some of the finest performers and teachers from around the world. This year’s 26 participants will experience first-rate instruments as well as excellent practice and performance spaces on UF’s campus.
This year’s guest artist faculty members are: Larissa Dedova of the University of Maryland, Ian Jones from the Royal College of Music, Logan Skelton from the University of Michigan, Hee Jung Kang from UF and Kevin Robert Orr from UF.
“UFIPF 2014 promises to once again thrill the Gainesville community with a full schedule of concerts and master classes, all free and open to the public,” says Orr, director. “This year’s roster of 26 young artists includes college pianists from outstanding music institutions across North and South America, as well as highly accomplished pre-college pianists from around the state of Florida.”
