GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The following events are scheduled in the near future at the University of Florida:
Summer commencement ceremonies
Ceremonies for summer graduates will be held Aug. 8-9 at the O’Connell Center. Doctoral degrees will be awarded at 4 p.m. Aug. 8, and all masters, specialist and bachelor degrees will be awarded at 10 a.m. Aug. 9. The College of Pharmacy will confer degrees at 10 a.m. Aug. 9 in the HPNP Auditorium.

Genetics workshop offered
A free workshop on genetic research with humans, plants and animals will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 11 in the UF Cancer & Genetics Research Complex Auditorium. Speakers represent a broad spectrum of disciplines, including animal breeding, crop management and medicine.

Panama Canal anniversary
A special weekend of activities to mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Panama Canal will be held Aug. 15-17. More than a dozen exhibits related to the planning, construction, development and impact of the canal will open during the weekend. The exhibits will feature rare and unique materials from the collections of the George A. Smathers Libraries. All events and exhibits are open to the public.
