GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The University of Florida’s Graduate Student Advisory Council will host the third annual Graduate Research Day Oct. 28, featuring a poster competition, panel discussion and professional development workshops.
The deadline to submit an abstract for the poster contest is 5 p.m. Sept. 29.
A group of faculty, staff, community members and graduate students will judge posters, and a prize will be given to the highest-scoring ones. The winning posters will be posted on the UF Innovation through Institutional Integration’s website for one week.
Graduate Research Day will be held in the Reitz Student Union, starting at 8 a.m. with registration. Closing ceremony starts at 3:45 p.m. This year’s theme is “Standing Out: It’s a Race to the Top!”
Additional activities include workshops on networking and transitioning into the job market with company representatives looking to hire graduate students and free resume and curriculum vitae critiques by UF’s Career Resource Center. There will also be a panel discussion with UF’s new preeminent scholars, a keynote and a 3-minute thesis/dissertation presentation.
The event is open to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and associates, researchers and faculty. Undergraduate students participating in research are also encouraged to attend.
