UF student faces charge of filing false report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is filing a sworn complaint charging UF student Sarah N. Lawrence, 20, with filing a false police report and lying to police in regards to the incident which she was reported as an attempted sexual battery and aggravated battery on Oct. 1.

The incident, which was reported to have occurred between Williamson and Weimer halls at 9:41 p.m. Oct. 1 resulted in an Emergency Notification Alert being issued to the University of Florida community and has been under investigation since the incident occurred.

Through the investigation UFPD detectives found inconsistencies in the victim’s account of the incident and subsequent incidents the alleged victim reported to the police at her off-campus residence.

When the victim was confronted with the inconsistencies in her account of the incidents, she ultimately confessed that the original claim of being attacked on campus and subsequent claims of being stalked off campus were all fabricated.
