How’s life as a Gator? UF wants to know
March 9, 2015
University of Florida administrators want to know about your experience as a UF undergraduate, and they’re offering a chance at prizes for those who participate.
Students who complete an online survey can win prizes from a GoPro Hero4, an Xbox One, Beats Headphones or a Gator sports pack by voicing their opinions about their UF experience.
The Student Experience at Research Universities survey opens March 9 and offers UF undergraduate students the opportunity to share different aspects of their college experience. The survey covers educational technology, campus climate, feeling of belonging at UF, academic and social experience and faculty quality and takes about 20 minutes to complete. Responses are confidential.
Administered every other year, the SERU survey collects information to broaden the understanding of the undergraduate experience to continue the efforts to make UF one of the top public universities in the nation.
Undergraduates will also have a chance to suggest the most important thing they feel could create a better campus experience.
"We want to know what is important to students, what is working well, and what needs improvement,” said Noelle Mecoli, assistant director of UF’s analytic services.
After completing the survey, students will automatically be entered to win prizes, and each undergraduate who completes the survey will receive a friends and family pass to the Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
The SERU survey is different from others because instead of collecting responses from a sample of students, nearly all undergraduate students are invited to respond. In past years, UF has had the highest response rate of any school across the nation administering the survey and hopes to uphold the title, Mecoli said.
“Our high response rate allows for departments to know what their particular students think as opposed to the general student outlook,” she said.
The survey is available online beginning March 9.
